Fans React to Favre Announcement

Updated:
Green Bay -  The Green Bay Packers announced Monday that former Packers Quarterback Brett Favre will enter the Packers Hall of Fame and his jersey (#4) will be retired in 2015.

The announcement brought Packers fans mixed emotions. Fans watching Packers Training Camp at Ray Nitschke Field Monday evening had differing opinions.

Some love him.

"He was a hero growing up," said Jon Holsbach, who lives in Milwaukee. "A big idol in my life and always a blast to watch him play."

Or hate him.

"I kinda was in the whole 'he kinda betrayed us in a way,'" said Olivia Rose Yorton of Waukesha.

Most Packers fans Action 2 News spoke to are happy to honor Favre.

"I think Brett Favre did so many wonderful things for the fans, he did so many wonderful things for the team, he brought us back to the glory days," said Liz Boss, Elkhorn.

"The three MVPs, the two Super Bowls. I mean, it makes sense for him to be in the Packer Hall of Fame," said Joe Klimek, Minneapolis.

While fans said they may not completely forget the past, they agree it's time to move on.

"Obviously some hard feelings for anyone who goes to the Vikings," said TJ Houselog from Dubuque, Iowa. "But he's a legend, he's our Favre."

"I was a little bit angry with him for awhile," said Tom Kreklow, Delafield. "But you know, he did a lot of good things here so it's time to get him back in the family."

Many fans, who traveled to Green Bay for training camp this year, hope to travel back to Green Bay next summer to see Favre.

"It'll be an exciting day," said Doug Retherford of DeKalb, Illinois. "I think everybody will be looking forward to it and I can't wait."

"I'd love to be here for that," Houselog said.

"I think it's going to be really hard to find a ticket," said Boss.
