Heavy Traffic Expected for EAA AirVenture

Oshkosh - Thousands of aviation enthusiasts are descending on Oshkosh Monday for the start of EAA AirVenture.The "World's Greatest Aviation Celebration" draws about 500,000 people from 70 nations each year, according to AirVenture organizers.

Singer Kenny Loggins will perform Monday night.

Doors open at 7 a.m. each day.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reminds drivers to expect heavy traffic on US 41 and nearby roadways in Winnebago County.  They urge people to pay close attention to traffic message boards and signs.

The DOT says to anticipate increased traffic during these events:
  • Wednesday night air show with fireworks
  • Thunderbirds’ practice Friday
  • Friday afternoon/evening with recreational, commuter and event traffic all utilizing the freeway
  • Saturday Thunderbirds Air Show and Packers Family Night (expect very heavy traffic on freeway)
  • Sunday Thunderbirds Air Show with events wrapping up by around 3 p.m.
