Oshkosh - EAA's AirVenture will bring tens of thousands of people from 65 countries around the world to Oshkosh. It'll be a week of air shows, trade shows, and activities -- one of the biggest events of its kind.

AirVenture officially starts Monday, but some vendors and campers are already in full gear.

Weather slowed things down a bit for flights coming in Friday, but we talked to some pilots who came before the big rush who say they're just as excited as ever.

"It's amazing. It's the center of the universe for pilots. There's just no place like it," one pilot said.

Pilots come to Oshkosh from all over the country and other parts of the world for the week-long air and trade shows.

"It's like a candy store, a toy store. You want to just buy everything."

For some, the week-long event lasts 10 days or more.

"You never know what to expect weather-wise across the country when you're flying in a light aircraft, so you leave a little bit earlier and give yourself time, so you can be safe," John McBean from Idaho said.

That's why McBean and his wife came in Thursday. He saw a storm system in the area and didn't want it to cloud his arrival plans.

"I fly when it's sunny," he said. "Probably would have held off today if I had to make the decision today."

Pilots are doing just the same, which left the grounds filled with workers setting up tents.

More aircraft and campers will be coming in throughout the weekend. For now, those who are here are enjoying some quiet before the big rush.
