MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Former state Commerce Department Secretary Aaron Olver has been named managing director of the University of Wisconsin Research Park in Madison.
Olver's appointment was announced Wednesday by UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank, who serves as chairwoman of the University Research Park Board of Trustees.
Olver replaces Mark Bugher, who retired in November. Olver served as Commerce secretary in 2010, the last year of Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle's second term. For the past three years Olver has been director of economic development for the city of Madison.
The University Research Park has 126 companies that employ about 3,600 people. The 260-acre park in Madison is expanding with an additional 370-acre site under construction.
The director works with government, private industry and the university in coordinating work done at the Research Park.
