Chicago police say a man has been charged in the shooting death of a man who grew up in Northeast Wisconsin.

Police say Eric Vaughn, 31, is facing charges of 1st Degree Murder and Attempted First Degree Murder for the June 12 shooting.

ABC station WLS in Chicago reports 28-year-old William Lewis was shot Saturday along a north side street while waiting for a bus.

Witnesses told the Chicago Tribune that Lewis, formerly of Sturgeon Bay and Kaukauna, was standing near a bus stop when a young man fired several shots, hitting him in the back.  He died at a hospital.

Police say Lewis was not the intended target of the shooting.

Officers say the shooting is possibly gang-related.

William Lewis recently moved to the Rogers Park neighborhood near the scene of the shooting.

The Chicago Tribune reports he attended Sturgeon Bay High School and Kaukauna High School, where he graduated in 2005.

According to his Linked In account, Lewis was a photographer and was set to start a new job today.
