Howard Woman Dies in Highway 29 Crash

Updated:

A driver was killed in a crash that closed part of Highway 29 and a much-used Highway 41 ramp for hours Friday.

It appears a 57-year-old Howard woman was trying to cross State Highway 29 at Woodland Road, and was struck by an SUV going west on 29, the Brown County Sheriff's Office said.

Two women in the westbound SUV were not hurt.

The crash happened shortly after 3:30. The westbound lanes of Highway 29 and the flyover ramp from Highway 41 were shut down for four hours, reopening at about 8 P.M.

Authorities aren't making the victim's name public until her relatives are notified.
