MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee police say two women were killed when a sport utility vehicle ran a red light and crashed into their vehicle.

Police say the crash happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday at an intersection on Milwaukee's north side.

Police say a 62-year-old woman driving the SUV ran the red light and struck a vehicle, killing both occupants. The victims are identified as the driver of the struck vehicle, 52-year-old Christine Jaeger, and her passenger, 45-year-old Lisa Cope, both of Greenfield.

The SUV driver was taken into custody. Two other drivers who became involved in the crash were hurt but are expected to recover.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1s48p55) reports Alderman Willie C. Wade issued a statement calling for people to respect speed limits on Sherman Boulevard, where the crash happened.
