Oshkosh - Thousands of Christian music fans are preparing to descend on Oshkosh.

That's where Lifest will open Thursday.

From sound checks on stage to volunteers setting up tents, the grounds at the Sunnyview Expo Center in Oshkosh are almost ready for Lifest, one of the largest Christian music festivals in the upper Midwest.

Aran Walter of Oshkosh said, "Honestly my favorite part of Lifest is the relationships that are kindled here, that are strengthened here, and that are really brought together by the presence of God amongst us."

Russ Leach of Birnamwood added, "The concerts are always a blast. You have some big names here like Skillet, you have Sawyer Brown coming in. You know so they're wanting to do a little country as well you know and you have Toby Mac. He's always big."

The four-day event goes through Sunday.

Some campsites have already been set up, even though the grounds are still a bit saturated from a wet June.

Still, organizers don't expect a huge mess.

"One year we had to spend $7,000 on wood chips so we can get some of the acts in and out, but let me tell you this, weather looks great tomorrow, and a little bit of rain, I tell ya, we're ready for it," said Bob Lenz of Life Promotions.

Organizers say they have already sold enough tickets to match last year's attendance. They expect about 20,000 people here each night.

"I'll say come out and join in the party. It's going to be a real good time," said Mike Kubica of Suamico.

Leach said, "Well, they call it a 'party with a purpose.' So it is very much so a party with a purpose, just good atmosphere, good people, and a good time."
