Marinette businessman pleads guilty to tax evasion

Updated:

A Marinette business owner agreed to pay the IRS more than $100,000 after pleading guilty to tax evasion Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Joseph Wilke, 56, failed to report more than $130,000 he earned from a side business between 2007 and 2009, for which he owed more than $50,000 in taxes.

Wilke pleaded guilty in federal court in Green Bay and agreed to pay the taxes, interest and penalties, totaling more than $108,000.

He still faces up to 5 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines when he's sentenced in September. He's currently free on bond.
