2 Your Health: Caffeine and Exercise; NY Legalizes Medical Marijuana

A new study shows drinking coffee before exercising could help you lose weight.

Researchers found athletes who took caffeine before working out burned 15 percent more calories for about three hours after exercising.

The study was published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism.

Coffee has been linked to several health benefits, like increased circulation, better memory and less post-workout pain.

But dietitians say you shouldn't overdo it. They say the max amount of caffeine you should have before working out is about two cups' worth.

New York is the latest state to permit the use of medical marijuana.

At a news conference in New York City, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the Compassionate Care Act.

Under the bill, a doctor can prescribe marijuana to patients with serious conditions.  The state legislature passed the bill in June.
