Roundy's closing Stevens Point distribution center

Posted: Updated:

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) - Roundy's supermarkets says it will close its Copps distribution center in Stevens Point by the end of summer.

The state Department of Workforce development says Roundy's told it that the center has 196 employees and all of them will lose their jobs by September 13. Roundy's says many could be terminated by August 30.

The company cites the divestiture of its Rainbow grocery stores in the Twin Cities area.

The statement says Roundy's will move its Stevens Point operations to its Oconomowoc and Mazomanie distribution facilities in phases.

Milwaukee-based Roundy's operates 174 supermarkets and 110 pharmacies under the Pick 'n Save, Rainbow, Copps, Metro Market and Mariano's brands in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois.
