Second Annual Brown County United Way Day of Action

Green Bay - Saturday is the second annual Brown County United Way Day of Action, but an 8-year-old girl from Green Bay is trying to make a difference today.

Even though rain has forced 8-year-old Kate Jossart's lemonade stand and rummage sale into her garage, she's determined.

"I want to help and give back to some kids and do something to help them have as much as I have," she explained.

This is the second year Kate's had a lemonade stand in honor of Day of Action.

She's giving the money to the Brown County United Way.

"They can decide who they want to give it to, if it is the Golden House or a hospital," Kate said.

Kate hopes to raise $400.

Her mom is the chair for the Brown County United Way Board and says Kate decides where to donate the money.

"She definitely is probably a little influenced by what she sees and hears me doing, but she knows how blessed she is. She really wants to give back," said Lisa Jossart.

The lemonade stand is just one of the many projects happening this week.

"With the Day of Action, one company had a shoe drive. Who thinks of that, you know, a basic pair of tennis shoes that my kids probably take for granted and a lot of kids don't have," said Lisa.

Kate says she plans to continue helping raise money, not just on Day of Action, but throughout the year.
