Hotel Northland Prepares for Construction

In March development group Frantz Community Investors announced work would begin this summer on a 30 million dollar project to bring the 90 year old Hotel Northland back to life.  Action Two News took a look at the progress.

For now the historic structure stands silent, waiting in the wings for it's own debut.

"A lot is going on behind the scenes right now," says Dennis Doucette the hotel's general manager."Right now they're still addressing some of the environmental issues.  We're still working with Preservation Design Works to make sure we have everything in place for our historic tax credit," said Steve Frantz, Asset manager for Frantz Community Investors.

They're hoping to have historic tax credits approved by this fall and they say they're still on track to open about a year later Fall of 2015. Though the hotel's financing isn't complete just yet the development team has built a website, released floor plans and hired a marketing team.

"Now we're seeing more visuals that we can actually present to clients, in terms of the programming and the layout of the hotel," says Frantz.

So when the Hotel Northland dons reflective orange and steps into the spotlight on Green Bay's construction stage, they'll be ready to perform.

"Although we've got an aggressive ten month schedule for the build out, we feel its realistic," says Doucette.

Once the curtain closes on construction, they hope for a standing ovation.

"I'm excited I can't wait!" says Doucette.
