MILWAUKEE—Attorney General candidate Jon Richards issued the following statement responding to Attorney General Van Hollen's push to ignore federal court ruling

"I'm incredibly disappointed that the AG is urging clerks to ignore the law and ignore the constitution and ignore the judge's ruling.

"He and his allies say they will follow the law. It turns out that he'll urge clerks to ignore the law to enforce his extreme views."

MILWAUKEE—Attorney General candidate Jon Richards issued the following statement today celebrating the historic ruling bringing marriage equality to Wisconsin.

"I am overjoyed that our LGBT brothers and sisters will finally have the ability to marry in Wisconsin," said Jon Richards. "Today is a joyous day for so many, and I am happy that all Wisconsin residents will be able to enjoy the right of marriage for the first time in our state's history.

"Today's ruling demonstrates the ability of the judicial system to fix injustices and improve the lives of Wisconsin residents. When the law is squarely behind the rights granted to us in the United States Constitution and the Wisconsin Constitution, our people are protected and our communities are stronger.

"The Governor and Attorney General would be wrong to appeal this decision and continue to stand in the way of progress and equality. Their out-of-date philosophy has been dismissed by Judges all across the United States, and finally here in Wisconsin.

"As Attorney General, I would not appeal today's decision. The time has come for Wisconsin to stand for the rights of all citizens."
