MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -
A Target employee found a loaded hand gun in the toy aisle of the store -- and police have now released a photo of the man linked to the firearm. Myrtle Beach Police say they want to find David Dennis for unlawfully carrying a handgun.
A Myrtle Beach Police report states a handgun was laying in a Marvel Superhero Playskool toy box in plain sight in the Target at 1150 Seaboard Street May 30.
At first, the employee who found it said the gun appeared to be a toy gun and there was a product wrapper next to it so it looked like someone tried to shoplift some merchandise. However, the gun was real and loaded with live ammo.
On Thursday afternoon, Myrtle Beach Police released a photo of a man they are seeking in connection with the incident.
According to the police report, the Target employee says the man was seen walking around the toy aisle and appeared "nervous" and "fidgety".
Captain David Knipes with the Myrtle Beach Police Department says at this time the man is only wanted for questioning and there have been no charges filed in the incident.
Capt. Knipes said they are also looking for Chavonne Tere Moore for questioning, she is the last known registered owner of the handgun. Friday night, police said that Moore had been located.
Knipes says the weapon has not been reported stolen.
News 13 reached out to Target's Corporate Offices for a comment. They have not responded.
The Myrtle Beach Target, where the gun was found, did issue this statement:
"The safety and security of our guests and team members is of the utmost importance to Target. We are partnering with local law enforcement on this incident. Because this is part of an ongoing investigation any additional questions can be directed to the local law enforcement."
