2 Your Health: Cynicism Tied to Dementia Risk

Updated:

New research shows people who have a hard time trusting others are more likely to develop dementia.

This new study looked at almost 1,500 people with an average age of 71.

They were given a test for dementia, and one for their level of cynicism.

The results showed people with the highest level of cynical distrust had a two-and-a-half times greater risk of dementia than those with lower levels of cynicism.

The study was published in the journal Neurology.

The man who once held the Guinness World Record for heaviest man alive has died.

At his heaviest, Manuel Uribe Garza of Mexico weighed more than 1,300 pounds.

Garza lost more than 400 pounds, but doctors say that wasn't enough to undo the damage his weight had done to his health.
