2 Your Health: Washington, D.C. Tops Fittest Cities List

Updated:

A physicians group has put out its annual list of the healthiest cities in the United States.

Washington, D.C. tops the list of fit, healthy cities, according to the American College of Sports Medicine.

The study looked at the nation's 50 largest metropolitan areas.

Previous three-time winner Minneapolis-St. Paul dropped to second place.

Portland, Oregon; Denver, Colorado; and San Francisco, California round out the top five.

The group compared several factors, including preventive health behaviors and amenities that support physical activity and healthy living.

Memphis, Tennessee ranked last.

A new study shows dads who share the housework are more likely to have daughters who aspire to higher-paying careers.

The research comes from journal "Psychological Science."

It found that 7-to-13-year-old girls whose dads split the housework evenly with moms envisioned themselves in less traditional careers -- and weren't as likely to aspire to traditionally female jobs like teacher, nurse, or stay-at-home mom.

Researchers say this shows how much influence fathers can have in their daughters' lives.
