Three Things You Can Do to Boost Your Brainpower

We've all had lapses in memory.  Sometimes we blame stress, busy lifestyles, or lack of sleep.

But a professor in neuroscience at UC-San Francisco says brain decline is real and it starts before age 30.

Michael Merzenich, Ph.D. wrote an article in Forbes magazine titled "How You Can Make Your Brain Smarter Everyday." 

Here are some of his tips:

  • Start your day with a brisk walk. Take in your surroundings. The article says that stimulates your brain.

  • Challenge yourself with new activities.Grow a garden, take an art class, play an instrument. Work a jigsaw puzzle, or keep your reactions fast with ping pong or catch. The key is continuous challenge.

  • Social life boosts your brain power. Facebook is great for keeping in touch, but actual social interaction is healthy.
