Easy, Healthy Ways to Change Your Diet


You may have heard of yo-yo dieting--losing weight and then gaining it back.

Some studies say it's harder on your body than not dieting at all.

Women's Health magazine says you shouldn't even call it a diet, instead look at it as a permanent lifestyle change.

Fitness magazine suggests writing down ways to soothe without food, so when you get tense you don't reach for junk food.  It might be a quick walk around the block, a five minute meditation, or a soak in the tub.

If you want a snack, try substituting the junk food for a healthier option.

If you miss the crunchiness of chips, keep a bowl of almonds and cashews on your cupboard and carrots and celery cut and ready to eat.

If you miss soda's carbonation, try flavored seltzer water.

If its sugar you crave, keep dried and fresh fruit with you at work and at home.

Remind yourself how much better you feel and how much more energy you have when you eat healthy.
