Weddings can be an expensive party for a couple to throw, but the experts at Angie's List have some tips on how to plan one on a budget.
Planning a wedding is an exciting time, but some people can get caught up in that excitement, and not read the fine print.
"When planning a wedding it can be a highly emotional process, so make sure you are reading all of your contracts start-to-finish so you understand how they are going to work," says Angie Hicks, founder of Angie's List.
Angie's List says you might want to consider hiring a wedding planner to help you wade through those contracts. The planner will have other tips, too.
"The ways they can save money is basically using a Friday or a Sunday as their wedding day. The venues typically charge less on those particular days," says Marie Frey, wedding planner. "They can cut back on their guest list. Each guest that they invite is going to have a dollar amount associated with them so if they can cut back on that, that's a big help."
Angie's List experts say a wedding planner's services start at around $1000, but they say the planner may be able to save you more than that because of relationships with vendors.
