Man Tries to Stab Appleton Resident

Updated:
Appleton -

One man is in custody after Appleton police say he tried to stab another person.

Police say a supervisor with the department saw a fight going on outside a tavern in the 500 block of West College Avenue just after 10:30 Friday night.

The supervisor says he saw one person fall to the ground, and then a 37-year-old man swung his hand toward the person on the ground.

The 37-year-old ran away as the supervisor approached.

A witness to the fight told the supervisor the man who fled the scene had a knife and tried to stab the person on the ground.

Appleton police say more officers responded to the area and found the suspect within three minutes of the initial call.

Officials say they found a broken knife on 37-year-old Jorge Alvarado and then arrested him.

Authorities say the other person involved in the fight, a 34-year-old Appleton resident, had a cut in their shirt that was consistent with the broken knife. That person received minor injuries in the fight.

Alvarado faces several charges, including first-degree recklessly endangering safety and carrying a concealed weapon. He is currently in the Outagamie County Jail.
