Staff at Rainbow House in Marinette say it's been difficult since the passing of former interim director Trish Waschbisch, but a grant from AT&T for a new computer lab is helping the shelter move forward.
"She had started the first one downstairs. Her dream was to get something in our agency. So, now we've taken it a step further in honor of her," said legal advocate at Rainbow House Jessica Honish.
AT&T initially reached out to Rep. John Nygren to see which organizations could use some help.
"When they came and visited me and told me how they were struggling, I put it in the back of my head. When AT&T asked if I could connect them to anyone, they were number one on the list," explained Rep. Nygren.
The lab has four brand new computers.
Residents can use them for things like job searching and working on their resumes.
"Your resume is your first impression. When you come out of a situation where you were belittled, we have to work on getting them back into a working field," added Honish.
The lab also has one computer strictly for children, so they can play games.
There's also plans to help shelter residents become more computer savvy.
"What we're going to look at doing is helping them with skills in Microsoft Outlook and other programs seen businesses where they apply for jobs," said Honish.
Staff say this is crucial, so victims can gain more confidence and life skills.
