Customer's Gas Expects Propane Shipment to Arrive Saturday Evening

Updated:
Amberg -

The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says it received four complaints from people who have pre-paid contracts with Customer's Gas Service in Amberg along with more than 100 calls from people who are still waiting for their propane.

"We've also heard from people who are on a monthly billing payment and they wonder whether they have to continue paying that monthly bill even though they're not getting propane delivered," Sandy Chalmers, Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Administrator, said.

The company, which has hundreds of customers in Marinette County, told Action 2 News earlier this week that it ran out of propane and would deliver it to customers as soon as the next shipment arrived. It also said the next shipment was expected on Friday.

Company officials didn't want to speak on camera Saturday.

Instead, they issued a statement:

"We are taking care of business as quick as possible through these hard times.  Unfortunately, there have been some untruths put out by agencies...Our office has always been open and will continue to be open."

The office manager at Customer's Gas Service said shipments haven't been coming when they were supposed to. And, it's not clear how much propane will come with each delivery.

In Amberg, some customers had to find other alternatives including paying as much as $7 a gallon for propane from other companies.

"They were out apparently, so we had to go with what we could find," Mike Churchill of Amberg, said. "It was kind of expensive," he added.

Customer's Gas Service says it expects the next shipment from Janesville to arrive sometime Saturday evening.
