Construction worker dies in Madison accident

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A construction worker has died at the site of a hotel renovation in downtown Madison.

Brian Hornung, a vice president with Findorff Construction, lead contractor on The Edgewater renovation, says the worker died after a "serious accident" at the site around 2 p.m. Monday.

Hornung declined to say to the Wisconsin State Journal what the worker was doing or where the worker was on the site. He also did not give any identifying information about the worker.

An investigator from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration later arrived at the Edgewater site.

Construction on the $98 million renovation and expansion of The Edgewater, built on the shore of Lake Mendota in 1948, began in November 2012.

The hotel is expected to reopen in August.
