Brillion Teen Beat Cancer, Now Training for Half-Marathon

Updated:
Brillion -

A high school student from Brillion, in remission from leukemia, is now training to complete a half-marathon in Washington D.C. this spring.

Nicole Koerth, 16, was diagnosed in 2009 at the age of 12. She underwent two years of chemo and other treatment.

Today, her school and family held a Health and Fitness Day at Brillion High School to raise money and stay in shape.

"On September 1 of this year, it was four years after being diagnosed -- and what I said on a post on Facebook is, that, for two years I was fighting cancer for me. and now this is a way for me to fight cancer for other people," says Koerth.

All the money donated from today's event will go toward the fight against leukemia.

If you'd like to make a contribution, the Koerth's have set up a donation page.
