Duck Creek Ice Access to Bay Unsafe - WBAY

Duck Creek Ice Access to Bay Unsafe

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is warning people to avoid the ice on Duck Creek near the I-43/US 41 interchange to access the Bay of Green Bay.  WisDot says the ice will not be safe to cross at all this season for a variety of reasons.

The department says the popular access point for snowmobilers and ice fisherman to the Bay of Green Bay is no longer safe because construction of a new causeway has made ice conditions on the creek unpredictable.  The causeway changed the river's currents making the ice more hazardous.

WisDot says crews will begin breaking ice on Monday so they can build a cofferdam.  The ice clearing, causeway, and addition of the cofferdam will lead to even more hazardous ice conditions.
