Area Schools Announce Make Up Days for Closings

Updated:
Green Bay -

The decision to cancel school for three days during the extreme January cold means some local students will have to stay in school an extra day in June.

The Green Bay Area Public School District says they will extend the school year one day to make up for the cancellations.

The district used a built-in inclement weather day for the Monday, January 6 cancellation.

For the Tuesday, January 7 cancellation, students will have to report to school on May 27--a weather make-up day.

For the Wednesday, January 8 cancellation, students will have to stay an extra day in June.

Here's how it works out for students:

  • The last student day for middle school students will be moved to Wednesday, June 11 (was originally Tuesday, June 10).
  • The last student day for high school students will be moved to Thursday, June 12 (was originally Wednesday, June 11).
  • The last student day for elementary school students will be moved to Thursday, June 12 (was originally Wednesday, June 11).

The district says they will look for other options if the need to cancel school again this year.

Pulaski Area schools say they had two days built into the schedule for cancellations.  Since they canceled three, students will have to make up the extra cancellation at the end of the school year.

Seymour Area Public School District says they do not have any classes to make up at the end of the year.

West De Pere schools will have one make up day on May 2 meaning the school district will not need to extent their school year.
