Adventure Park Construction Nearly Complete

Updated:
Suamico -

Construction is almost complete on Brown County's $500,000 Adventure Park near the NEW Zoo and Reforestation Camp in Suamico.

Bao Vang takes a look at progress and what the project has to offer.

"The people that have been by I mean they're just quite amazed," says NEW Zoo Director Neil Anderson.

The three initial components of Adventure Park are coming to life.

First, there's the aerial ropes course.

"You're going to be able to test yourself through there's 12 different elements up to 35 feet to 40 feet up in the air," explains Anderson. "And they're about 30 feet long."

Right after that, you can get in line for the climbing wall.

"There's three faces for the climbing wall that's about 40 feet high," said Anderson.

And if you still have the energy, head over to the dueling zip lines, which is yet to be completed.

It's where you'll launch from 100 feet above ground at the top of the old fire tower and race your friends 1,000 feet through the air, over a pond, and land at a platform near the entrance of the zoo.

"You can spend an entire afternoon or morning out here doing the Adventure Park," he said.

And it doesn't matter what you're physical ability is.

"If you're in a wheelchair, you're going to be able to be lifted, we're not going to lift the wheelchair, but we're going to be able to hook you up and you're going to go off that dueling zip line," says Anderson. "With our climbing walls, there are automatic belay systems, you'll be able to go ahead and use that as well."

Construction will continue over the next few weeks, if the temperatures allow. Workers plan to test the equipment before a grand opening is scheduled for May.
