Man's Belt Buckle Deflects Bullet In FDL Shooting

Updated:
Fond du Lac -

Police say two people are in custody after a shooting in Fond du Lac early Saturday morning.

It happened just after 2:30 a.m. near Main and Second streets.

Fond du Lac police say officers in the area heard four shots and immediately went to the scene.

Authorities say a 30-year-old Fond du Lac man was hit in abdomen, but his belt buckle deflected the bullet.

Officers arrested a 34-year-old man and a 19-year-old man a block away on First and Main streets.

The 34-year-old man is in the Fond du Lac County jail for charges related to the shooting.

The 19-year-old was released.

Officials believe an argument appears to have led up to the shooting, and the man hit with one of the bullets may have been a bystander.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
