How Much Work REALLY Gets Done At Workplaces On Christmas Eve?

With Christmas falling on Wednesday this year, we wondered how much actually got done at workplaces this week?

A survey of nearly 300 human resources managers earlier this month found Thursday and Friday are tied for the least productive work days and that Tuesday is the most productive day of the week.

So, Action Two News went to work to find out if Tuesday productivity is holding true today.

It's Christmas Eve and it's Tuesday.

"If it's a normal business day we usually work," says Tracy Lefave, a third generation barber at Benz Barber Shop.

"We're open until noon so everybody's in a really good mood," says Erica Hickey, marketing officer at Baylake Bank.

Which means there is a good chance everyone is watching the clock.

"Counting down the minutes, counting down the minutes, ready for family time!" says Hickey.

But time is flying and business is steady at Baylake Bank in downtown Green Bay.

"I think its been very comparable to a normal Tuesday, surprisingly," says Becky Bourget at Baylake Bank.

Though the phones aren't ringing nearly as much in the back office, productivity is high.

"I work in the marketing department, so I usually work with a lot of different reps calling me, a lot of different vendors and they're all taking time off!  So I can take a little bit of time to catch up, work on budgets, get ready for next year," says Hickey.

Getting ready for the holidays keeps the razor buzzing at Benz Barber Shop on Broadway.

"It's busy for us, last minute haircuts, lookin' good for family, that kinda thing," says Lefave.

She's been working all day, "8 in the morning 'til sometime this afternoon.  If it slows down I might leave."

"This is one of our busier days, Christmas Eve," she adds.

Between the seasonal walk-in's and the Christmas Eve tips ...

"Bigger, more generous ..." Lefave says with a smile.

This Tuesday could be her most productive day of the year.
