Massive Water Balloon Fight Helps Four-year-old with Bucket List

Updated:

Wednesday evening a large group of family, friends and strangers was helping a four-year-old boy from Green Bay cross off his list.

"Colton's Bucket List" comes after Colton Steinhorst's family learned his childhood cancer is spreading fast and doctors say the tot has only months to live.

Tuesday night in our Target 2: On Assignment report we promised to try and bring back some smiles after we shared Colton's last hope.

What better way to do that than with thousands of water balloons and more than 100 people in a massive water balloon fight?

This is one of Colton's wishes.

This is no ordinary back yard water balloon fight. In preparation, it took five hours to fill 2,200 balloons on Tuesday.

After his family learned two weeks ago the four-year-old's cancer has spread to nearly every part of his body, they told him to make a list of things he wants to do.

Colton was diagnosed with neuroblastoma nearly two years ago. In April, he and his mother became part of a clinic trial in Madison taking tens of millions of her stem cells and transplanting them in Colton, hoping they would attack the cancer.

It didn't work. Instead, the cancer continued to spread.

This, as his family put it, was their last hope.

"I think our family is still a little in shock. I think I hold it together for my husband and he holds it together for me, and we just haven't had that moment yet where we've just broken down. I think Colton's got his list -- I know a lot of people don't like to hear it called a bucket list, but it is his list -- and, you know, I just try to check those things off every day as I can," mom Tara Steinhorst said.

Wednesday on Action 2 News at Ten, we're going to take you along as Colton crosses more off his list.
