New research shows the cholesterol-lowering drugs called statins may cause kidney problems.
Researchers found the drugs Simvastatin, Atorvastatin and Rosuvastatin raise the risk of a condition called acute kidney injury, or AKI, by 34 percent on average.
Doctors say the kidneys of people with AKI suddenly stop working and the condition can be fatal.
Researchers say the higher the dose of statins, the higher the risk to the kidney.
Health experts say that kidney problems are still relatively rare with statins, and need to be balanced against the millions of lives the drugs save by preventing heart attack and stroke.
New research shows drinking Greek coffee may keep you young.
Researchers looked at people who live on the Greek island of Ikaria, many of whom live past age 90.
They found almost all Ikarians drink a boiled Greek coffee that's rich in antioxidants and compounds called polyphenols, also found in red wine.
Experts say drinking a moderate amount of coffee improves heart health.
