Study: Video Games Beneficial for the Elderly

Updated:

A new study shows playing video games can be beneficial for the elderly.

Research found older people who played video games reported greater emotional well-being than those who didn't play video games.  That held true even if the people only played video games once in a while.

Those who did not play video games said they had more negative feelings and were more likely to be depressed.

Experts say the video games where people use their bodies to play can also improve physical fitness in seniors.

New research shows it's common for new moms to experience symptoms similar to obsessive compulsive disorder.

Researchers say new moms often experience obsessive desires to check that their new babies are breathing, or that they're staying away from germs.

Some studies suggest these symptoms are the strongest immediately after the birth, but other studies show they may peak around six months.

Doctors say the compulsions are normal and often go away on their own, but when they interfere with day-to-day functioning, women should talk with a health professional about it.
