UW-Oshkosh crushes Lakeland 63-0 in DIII First Round Playoffs

UW-Oshkosh advances to play North Central College (Ill.) (10-1) next Saturday (Nov. 25), with the site to be announced on Sunday (Nov. 19).

North Central College defeated Saint John's University (Minn.) (9-2), 17-7, at home on Saturday. UW-Oshkosh is unbeaten in all four of its games in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship.

Saturday was the first meeting between UWO and Lakeland since the Titans defeated the Muskies, 62-7, during the 2007 season. Lakeland entered the game averaging 53 points and 577.7 yards per game but was shutout. UW-Oshkosh has shut out its last two opponents, with the other being a 31-0 win over UW-Stout on November 11.

UWO scored 28 second-quarter points to take a 42-0 lead to intermission.

UWO's quarterback Brett Kasper completed 11-of-15 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns. The Titans scored nine touchdowns including a 20-yard run by Dylan Hecker, a 31 yard pass from Brett Kasper to Sam Mentkowski, a 25-yard pass from Brett Kasper to Dom Todarello, a 28-yard run by Chad Walton, a 13-yard pass from Jayden Essman to Mitchell Gerend and a 73-yard pass interception return by Mitch Ganassin.
