Titans toppled 43-40 in NCAA Semifinals

OSHKOSH, Wisc. (WBAY) The UW-Oshkosh Titans fall to Mount Union 43-40 in the NCAA Semifinals on Saturday afternoon, ending their playoff run for the 2017 season. The loss is the Titans first of the year and snaps a 15-game win streak for UW-Oshkosh.

UW-Oshkosh tied the game up early in the second quarter and went on to lead by as many as 25 points before Mt. Union mounted their comeback. The Purple Raiders pulled within two points early in the 4th quarter, but a big defensive extra point return on a failed two-point conversion by Mt. Union gave the Titans some momentary breathing room.

The Purple Raiders took back the lead with 5:41 left to play. UW-Oshkosh was unable to score in the final minutes of the game and had to kick 46-yard field goal in order to send the game into overtime . A failed kick by Turner Geisthardt as time expired sealed the Titans fate and allowed Mt. Union to advance to their 20th national title game appearance.

The Titans close out the 2017 season at 12-1.
