Mequon's Niebrugge will kick off U.S. Open

ERIN, Wis. (WBAY) – At Erin Hills the first competitive shot of the U.S. Open will be played at 6:45 a.m. on Thursday -- by Mequon native Jordan Niebrugge.
The 23 year-old is excited to make his U.S. open debut in his home state.

“It should be interesting,” Niebrugge said of his early tee time. “I don't know if I've ever gone off at 6:45 a.m. before. It will be great. To get off to great start and then relax after, that is my goal. It's pretty incredible. I am sure that the Wisconsinites are going to come out here and support the U.S. Open and it's going to be pretty fun playing in front of everybody.”

You may remember Niebrugge from his sixth place finish in the British Open two years ago. He has played in only three majors so far, and this is his US open debut. At
