IUPUI joins the Horizon League, filling Valparaiso's spot

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, otherwise known as IUPUI has joined the Horizon League. IUPUI fills the spot vacated by Valparaiso when it left for the Missouri Valley Conference.

IUPUI will immediately begin competition during the 2017-18 academic year.

"You know you've heard it for the last year out of Valpo looking to move on and move up," Green Bay men's basketball Head Coach Linc Darner said. "It wasn't surprising when it happened. I think it's good for us for scheduling and everything. Get another team in to take Valpo's spot. I'm excited that they are coming in. It's an area we want to recruit so now it will benefit us, hey they are in our league and we can go play them."

The addition of IUPUI returns the Horizon League to 10 full members. The Jaguars compete in 18 of 19 Horizon League sports: men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s track and field (indoor and outdoor), softball and volleyball.
