DAYTON, Ohio. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – No. 19/20 Green Bay suffered just its second loss of the season as the team continued Horizon League play at Northern Kentucky at the BB&T Arena on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Norse, 62-54.
The Phoenix (11-2) was unable to gather any offensive traction in the afternoon bid, shooting just 35% (21-60) from the field and 15.4% (4-26) from beyond the arc. The Norse (3-10) clinched the game with a 22-for-26 performance at the free throw line combined with sending 10 triples through the net.
It looked as though Green Bay was going to take control in the in the second half, battling back to tie the game, 36-36, heading into the final quarter after holding Northern Kentucky to just two total points in the third.
NKU's Mikayla Terry knocked down a three-pointer to get things underway in the fourth and the Phoenix was unable to get thing back to even the remainder of the game. The Norse finished 15-for-18 in the final quarter of action, eventually earning the 62-54 victory to upset the Phoenix.
Jessica Lindstrom led all scorers on the afternoon with 20 points combined with 12 rebounds to notch her seventh double-double of the season. Lindstrom also pulled down the 800th rebound of her career in the contest.
Allie LeClaire joined Lindstrom in double figures with 13 points paired with three rebounds and one assist in 37 minutes.
Green Bay returns to the Kress Center on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 1 p.m. when the Phoenix plays host to in-state rival Milwaukee.
