Wisconsin launches sex assault kit website

MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) - The Wisconsin Department of Justice has created a website to keep the public updated on the effort to bring justice to victims of sexual assault.

The Wisconsin Sexual Assault Kit Initiative, also known as WiSAKI, is an effort to solve cases dating back decades.

Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel says some local law enforcement agencies have sexual assault kits that have not been submitted for testing.

“Now, in less than three years, DOJ and local law enforcement will process all previously unsubmitted kits and bring justice to sexual assault survivors after years of delay under previous administrations. Testing the kits is only the beginning of this important process and with this website, survivors, the entire Wisconsin criminal justice system, and the public will be able to see this progress in action from testing of kits to prosecuting criminals.”

The WiSAKI website includes data, results, resources, and updates on testing.
