APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – Two people were hurt after an early morning duplex fire.
The Appleton Fire Department and Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue were called to the 1100 block of E. Roeland Avenue around 2:09 a.m Sunday morning.
When crews arrived to the scene, they found one half of the duplex on fire from the first and second floor. Everyone inside was able to get out of the building but two people sustained burns and smoke inhalation. The two people were taken to the hospital for treatment.
A total of nine people were displaced from this fire. Five people from one side of the duplex and four from the other side are being helped by the American Red Cross.
Officials say the fire was challenging due to the high winds that affected visibility and contributed to the fire spreading.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
