Two head-on crashes in Fond du Lac County leave three in hospital

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) -- The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office is investigating two separate head-on crashes that happened on Saturday.

The first crash happened on County Highway K near Drumlin Drive in the Town of Ashford just after 4 p.m.

The sheriff's office says a vehicle traveling southbound on CTH K crossed the centerline and struck a northbound pickup truck head on.

Authorities say the driver of the southbound vehicle was Kenneth Gudux, 58, of Campbellsport.

Deputies say Gudux was not wearing a seat belt and was flown to Theda Care regional Medical Center in Neenah with serious injuries.

The driver of the northbound pickup truck was a 15-year-old, who had a passenger; 64-year-old Dennis Wondra.

Wondra and the 15-year-old were treated and released at the scene.

Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The second crash happened on County Highway M near Gallagher Road in the Town of Waupaun around 5:26 p.m.

The sheriff's office says a northbound vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a southbound vehicle head-on.

Authorities say a 20-year-old Ripon man was the driver of the northbound vehicle and a 62-year-old woman from Ripon was the driver of the southbound vehicle.

Deputies say both drivers were pinned in their vehicles and had to be extricated. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the crash.

The 20-year-old was flown to Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Neenah with serious injuries.

The 62-year-old woman was taken to Waupaun Hospital for her injuries.
