STURGEON BAY, Wis. (WBAY) -- The Sturgeon Bay Historical Society says the historic Granary building has been saved.
As Action 2 News has been reporting, the Granary has been a hot topic after the fire chief put a raze order on the building last fall saying the building was too dangerous to keep up.
On Saturday, the historical society announced a private donor has purchased the Granary.
Plans are underway to move the building across the bay to the Shipyard Development property located on the east side of the bay at the foot of the Maple-Oregon bridge.
The historical society plans to ask the Sturgeon Bay City Council at its upcoming meeting for a permit to store portions of the dismantled building until it can be rebuilt.
