Snowmobiler injured after crash with SUV

WAUPACA COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) -- A snowmobiler is hurt after crashing into an SUV in Waupaca County on Saturday.

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff's office, the crash happened at about 6 p.m. on Larry Road and Ritchie Lane in the Town of Mukwa.

Authorities say the snowmobile had been traveling northbound on the west shoulder of Larry Road and the SUV was traveling southbound on Larry Road.

Deputies say the snowmobiler made an abrupt turn onto the roadway in front of the SUV and the two collided.

The driver of the snowmobile, a 52-year-old man from Waupaca, was taken to ThedaCare Medical Center in New London and then taken by helicopter to ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

The driver and passenger of the SUV were not injured.

The sheriff's office says the incident is under investigation.
