GREEN BAY, Wis (WBAY)- The Phoenix men’s basketball team lands another local transfer on Thursday. Former West De Pere star Cody Schwartz announced on Twitter that he is leaving San Jose State after two seasons and will join the Phoenix.
Schwartz will have to sit out a year, and then will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Phoenix starting in the fall of 2018. The former all-state player saw action in 56 games, with 7 starts, for San Jose State.
He helped lead West De Pere to consecutive state tournaments his junior and senior years, earning all-state honors. Schwartz and Seymour’s Sandy Cohen used to have terrific battles in the Bay Conference when both were in high school; now they will be teammates with the Phoenix. Cohen transferred to Green Bay from Marquette in January.
