Autopsy indicates Hortonville woman died by suicide

HORTONVILLE, Wis. (WBAY) -- The autopsy of a woman found dead in a Hortonville apartment complex Wednesday indicates she died by suicide, the village administrator said Thursday afternoon.

Police presence

Administrator Diane Wessel said the autopsy findings are preliminary and the investigation isn't finished.

The Hortonville Police Department says it responded to 307 Lakeview Avenue, apartment 4, at 11:19 a.m. for a medical incident.

Authorities say they found a woman who appeared to be dead inside the apartment.

Police were at the apartment building in Hortonville for the majority of Wednesday afternoon and into Wednesday night.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice told Action 2 News that the agency was assisting law enforcement with the investigation.

The county coroner's office was also at the scene.

Officers said they didn't believe there is any danger to the public and foul play was not suspected.

A neighbor tells Action 2 News that when he got back from the Farmer's Market around 4:15 p.m. the street was packed with cars.

"Cop drove by, stopped in front of the apartments, and just sat in his car...About three or four people were standing out in front of the apartment, the cop got out of his car, came over and started talking to them," said Randy Sachtjen
