GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Blues Traveler and special guest Everclear will hold a free concert outside Lambeau Field as part of the Green Bay Packers' "Kickoff Weekend" activities.
The concert will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, the day before the season-opening Packers-Seahawks game.
Saturday's celebration starts at the new Johnsonville Tailgate Village at 3 p.m.
Music starts at 5 p.m. near the Oneida Nation Gate.
Blues Traveler broke through to the mainstream in the 1990s with Billboard Top 40 hits "Run-Around" and "Hook."
Everclear's multitude of hit songs include "Santa Monica", "I Will Buy You a New Life," and "Everything to Everyone." Their first two albums went platinum.
There will be food and beverages to purchase during the Kickoff Weekend party. The Tailgate Village will be open until 9 p.m. that day.
Free parking will be available on Lambeau Field's west side off Ridge Road.
The Atrium, Pro Shop, Hall of Fame and 1919 Kitchen and Tap will be open. Fans will also be able to take the Lambeau Field Stadium Tour.
The Kickoff Weekend events are presented by Tundraland.
The Packers-Seahawks game kicks off Sunday, Sept. 10, at 3:25 p.m.
Opening Packers season is usually a big weekend for area bars and restaurants, but they see the concert as a positive, helping business instead of taking it away.
"Anytime there is something at Lambeau Field or the Resch Center it brings in business before and after, and with the parking and things like that, it’s exciting and brings in a little more revenue," said Jacob Monigal, the assistant manager at The Bar.
"I don’t see how it could ever hurt business," said Bill Tressler, owner of Hinterland Brewery. "I think the more people in this area, the busier every restaurant and bar and service type business in this area is going to be."
