OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - Oshkosh Police honored officers killed in the line of duty since the department was established in 1853.
The police department gathered Thursday afternoon for a ceremony honoring three fallen officers: Louis Hardy, George O'Conner and Walter Spiering.
They also honored officers who died last year in the state: Dan Glaze Jr., Adam Hartwig and Michael Ventura.
Oshkosh Police Chief Dean Smith says this event honors the sacrifices officers make each and every day.
"Our officers do things that many folks wouldn't do. Our officers at 3 o'clock in the morning are there and they're protecting us while we're all sleeping, and we need to honor the sacrifice that they make," Chief Smith said.
The ceremony is one of many across the country planned for National Police Week.
