Office furniture maker Safco closing 3 Sheboygan facilities

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WBAY) - Office furniture maker Safco is closing former Mayline facilities in Sheboygan. It informed the state that 127 employees will be out of a job by mid-November.

Safco acquired Sheboygan-based Mayline in 2016.

The facilities that are closing are at 4350 Tower Drive; 319 and 705 N. Commerce Street; and 1213-1310 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Layoffs for non-union workers, mostly office workers, will begin between September 4 and September 18. Layoffs for union workers will begin between October 5 and October 19.

A final round of layoffs will begin between November 2 and November 16.

In all, Minnesota-based Safco is eliminating 79 hourly and 48 salaried workers in Sheboygan.
