Police shut down Neenah bridge after man threatens to hurt himself

NEENAH, Wis. (WBAY) -- Traffic was rerouted and train traffic was put on hold Sunday morning as a precaution after a report of a man sitting on the Main Street overpass in Neenah.

According to the Neenah Police Department, crews responded to the Main Street railroad overpass, between Harrison Street and Doty Avenue, around 5 a.m.

Officers were able to make contact with the man, who had made references that he was going to hurt himself.

After four hours of negotiating, the man was taken into protective custody and taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Police say no weapons were involved and no one was hurt during the incident.
