APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - Appleton police say an 80-year-old local man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a car on W. Packard St. Tuesday night.
The man was crossing in the 800-block when he was hit by a car going east on Packard at about quarter to 7. The man was lying in the road when officers arrived and was transported to a hospital. He isn't being publicly identified at this time.
The driver stayed at the scene. He's identified only as a 54-year-old from Appleton.
The Wisconsin State Patrol was called in to help reconstruct the crash, closing Packard Street for several hours.
The investigation is still underway, but police say they don't believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
